Start Location - Jetties Beach
Athletes will be grouped by age and organized in a chute leading down to the water, forming two lines. Please follow the instructions of race officials.
Time Trial Start
Athletes will enter the water two at a time, every 5 seconds, side-by-side. A start clock will count down from 5 for each pair. Your race time starts when you cross the timing mat at the water’s edge.
This is a self-seeded start, so please position yourself based on your comfort and ability. If you’re not a strong swimmer or prefer to avoid contact, move toward the back of your wave.
Swim Exit
After the swim, athletes will run about 400 yards up the beach to the transition area. Take your time - it’s a longer run than most expect.
Swim Safety
Lifeguards and safety personnel will be on the water. You may stop and rest by holding onto a kayak or paddleboard, if needed. Safety personnel are authorized to remove any athlete if they believe continuing the swim would pose a risk. Their judgment is final and must be followed.
