THERE WILL BE NO PARKING AT JETTIES BEACH FROM 8 AM TO 5 PM ON RACE DAY AND THERE IS NO PARKING ON ANY OF THE ROADS LEADING INTO JETTIES BEACH. ALL ATHLETES MUST RIDE THEIR BIKES TO THE TRANSITION AREA WITH THEIR EQUIPMENT. NO BIKE DROP OFFS WILL BE ALLOWED. SPECTATORS AND RACE DAY BEACH GOERS MAY WALK TO JETTIES OR USE THE NANTUCKET REGIONAL TRANSIT AUTHORITY (NRTA).
Spectator viewing locations are available at:
- The Rotary at Brant Point on Easton Street (limited parking available; RUN COURSE)
- The Rotary at Lincoln Circle (limited parking available; RUN COURSE)
- Tupancy Links on Cliff Road (limited parking available; BIKE COURSE)
Bathing Beach Road (Jetties Road) will be completely closed to traffic on July 10, 2010 from 8 AM to 5 PM. Beachgoers and race athletes will have to walk or ride the NRTA Shuttle to Jetties Beach.
A number of intersections will be affected by heavy race activity from approximately 11:45 AM to 2:45 PM. These intersections should be avoided by traffic seeking to get through Town. The main intersections affected are:
North Beach Street - Easton Street (RACE DAY PARKING BAN ON EASTON STREET)
North Water Street - Easton - Cliff Road
North Liberty Street - Cliff Road
Madaket Road - Eel Point Road
Cliff Road - Westchester - Center Street - Chester Street (RACE DAY PARKING BAN ON CHESTER STREET)
The Nantucket Police Department has worked closely with race organizers to allow traffic to flow when possible during the race. Race organizers request the cooperation of the public to try and avoid using the race route during the peak hours of 12-3 PM on race day. Please seek an alternate route to your destination to avoid frustration and traffic congestion and to allow for the safety of our athletes! Your consideration is GREATLY appreciated!
